Music video proposal

Music video proposal: The Saturdays Higher

Basic information: The target audience for the music video is for teenagers and young adults. The summary of the video is someone laying down in their bed on their phone and then they turn off their phone and they have bored with nothing to do. After their mum tells them to go out and have some fun. She stands up and goes out to meet their friend which gets better(higher). They go to the arcade but they get bored so they decide to go shopping which makes them better again. At the end she comes back to her house and in her bed smiling. The events which will be in the music video are that she will start off in her bed and then walks out to see her friend then after they walk to the arcade to play some games. when they get bored of the arcade they decide to go shopping. At the end she ends up in her bed.

Technique information: The style of the music video which i am going to do is narrative and interpretative because it is easy relatable and also the lyrics does tell a story in them. It is effective and you understand what is going on. Some of the lyrics will be directly shown visually. For example 'Turn off my telephone' and the shot will be someone turning off their phone. The purpose of the music video is to promote the song and able to relate the lyrics in a visual form. Also it is to show the artist. There will be close up and establishing shots of the places they are in. Some techniques in the music video are cutting to a beat/insert an image. The pics will be lyrics of the song in the music video. Some camera shots which will be in the video are close up, two shots of the people, establishing shot of the mise en scene and also POV shot because it will get to see what they are looking at and are doing. The conventions of the music video are lyric interpretation, focus on performers and lighting for mood because it will create an effect on the audience.

Financial information: The things which i will need in the process of making the music video that will cost money are:
  • A decent camera which has good quality you can work with.
  • Editing software.
  • Costumes
  • the actors you would need for each shot
  • The place that you would be filming and when it is available.
The camera and costumes are funded with the company that they are working with and the stylist that they have because they see which costumes would work and sit the lyrics and the place where you are shooting. Also the stylist does the make up aswell. / I am not sure on how much that it would normally cost.

Initial responses to music video

One Republic-I Lived:
The genre of the music video is pop/rock and also the style song is soothing but also some mixed emotions because that it will make you think about the meaning and things which you have done over the years and your whole life. The length of the song is 3mins 54 secs which is medium and also it has a story line behind it. The meaning of the song is that you only live once and make the most of it and thing about the things you have done in the past and also how you were like in your childhood. Also any achievements you have completed as well. The narrative does tell a story because from the chorus and also the clips they have added in.  The song makes you feel mixed emotions because it can make you feel sad and happy. They say the name of the song a lot which is 'I lived' and you imagine your childhood.

The Saturdays-Higher
The genre of the song is pop and the style of the song is happy and cheerful to dance to and have a good time. The length of the song is 3mins 35 seconds and the pace of the song is medium which you can enjoy too. The meaning of the song is that things can get better and people can make you happy and they are always with you. Sometimes you can feel down and bored. There is a narrative in the lyrics because at the beginning they are annoyed and fed up but then you get better with the people who you are with as they always listen to go and understand. My first impression of the song is that it was a good song and it is also catchy and it can also relate to anyone. The word higher could symbolise that things are getting better.
I'm doing nothing;
'Cause then at least I'm doing nothing wrong.
And I'm gon' staying on my own,
And turn off my telephone,
If nothing's gained then nothing's won.

Yeah, you can tell them,
Yeah, you can say whatever;
I don't care, yeah.
And if you wanna play it cool,
Then I got news for you,
It's getting hotter, hotter in here...

So, when I speak, listen
This is my decision,
And you keep on missing out the words (oh, oh, oh)
So when I speak, listen,
'Cause you keep on pushing,
Like I need permission to be heard (oh, oh, oh)

I'm gonna lift it, lift it higher!
I'm gonna lift it, lift it higher!
So when I speak, listen,
This is my decision,
And you keep on missing out the words.

It's getting closer,
I'm movin' in and yeah I think you know,
'Cause I am sick of playing games,
And I'm not gon' say no names,
But you and I know who to blame.

Yeah, you can tell 'em
Yeah, you can go ahead and put it straight,
'Cause I am finishing myself,
And I do not need your help,
I'm gonna do this, do it right.

So, when I speak, listen
This is my decision,
And you keep on missing out the words (oh, oh, oh)
So when I speak, listen,
'Cause you keep on pushing,
Like I need permission to be heard (oh, oh, oh)

I'm gonna lift it, lift it higher!
I'm gonna lift it, lift it higher!
So when I speak, listen,
This is my decision,
And you keep on missing out the words.

I'm gonna lift it, lift it...
When you go higher, I go higher!
I'm gonna lift it, lift it...
Yeah, you can try, but I go higher!
I'm gonna lift it, lift it...
The only thing, boy, all that you can do is listen, so listen!

So, when I speak, listen
This is my decision (yeah, yeah!)
And you keep on missing out the words (oh, oh, oh) (You keep on missing out my words!)
So when I speak, listen,
'Cause you keep on pushing,
Like I need permission to be heard (oh, oh, oh)

I'm gonna lift it, lift it higher!
I'm gonna lift it, lift it higher!
So when I speak, listen,
This is my decision,
And you keep on missing out the words.

Radio charity advert evaluation

For this radio advert we had to choose a charity which would appeal to 16-19 years old and also others. We had to research about the charity which we were doing and then start writing a script which we would record. The charity which I chose to do is Children in need.

Creativity:
I chose a charity which already existed which was Children in need and i created my own script and in the script i added pudsey because that it is related to children in need and that it is the logo which symbolises the charity. Some persuasive techniques which i have used is repetition which can create an effect and make people remember it and they might donate and want to listen on.

Making an advert for radio city market.

1.What were the roles of the two people in the video?
In the video there was a voiceover for the advert and also that the voiceover had to think about the tone which they had to think about and what the audience is. The other role was the sound engineer which edit the advert and made it interesting.

2.What consideration does the voiceover artist have to make before recording?
The things which the voiceover is that you have to consider is the tone of voice which is needed for the advert and also think about which audience they are trying to aim it at.Also that if you are able hear the voiceover clearly.

3.What studio equipment was shown?
There was a microphone, mixing desk, headphones, computer, recording and editing software.

4.What processes were shown to complete the radio commercial?
The voiceover got their lines and then read through it so they are familiar with it when they are recording it and think about the tone as well. Then they record the lines for the advert so then after the sound engineer are able to edit it and add sound effects in it which is able to make the audience

5.How might a music library have played a part in the process?
Music library has played a part in the process because that it has helped select what sound effect and music that will fit in the background for the voice over and also the advert.
