Production blog
Last week on Monday which was the 7th December we decided to try to film one of our scenes for our short film but then the area was too crowded to film so we decided to film random parts which might help with our film while we are editing. On the 9th we got to film that scene which was someone filling a cup of water up and we used different angles and types of shot incase one of them don't work or we might need them. Another shot which we filmed is in another room and then we put moved the tables to look like we were in a classroom studying and thats all we would do as the teacher is lazy and they aren't doing. We made a sign to put on the door which said Keep out as the students is able to understand what the sign says and they won't leave the room. We did 2 types of shot at different angles of the teacher sleeping. One of the angles which we filmed were close up of them sleeping. We did a pan of the classroom and while the students are studying. Today we filmed outside of the building with different angles and part of the college. On Monday we refilmed some of the parts to make them better but it was a bit hard as people were walking pass at the corridor. Today we filmed in the classroom of students studying hard and the lesson was a science class. In one of the shots, it was a two shot another student walks in and sits next the other student and they were trying to distract the other one but it doesn't work. Now we have finished all of the filming we have started editing our shot film with all of the shots we have gathered. All of the footage is on Art media as it is an easy way to get the shots onto iMovie. On iMovie i've started putting all of the clips together but also finding sound effects which will work. One of the sound effects which is for the beginning of the film. Now we have finished editing our short films and rendering it down we are writing our evaluation and printing off all of our paper work

Analysing the features of single camera production
Children of men is a feature film. The genres of the feature film is
scifi, action and drama. Throughout the film they change different genre but it
is sci-fi because they have set it in 2027 in London. Their costumes in the
film was old fashioned and their war costumes wasn’t new as it was old
fashioned. It was set in London and it has changed a lot which shows you that
it is sc-fi. The beginning of the film you could tell it was Sc-fi because they
said it was set in 2027 but also the youngest person on earth died and he was
18 years old. Things have changed till that day. The main character called Theo
at the beginning he was a normal man who went to work but then things changed
and he got caught into helping refugees. He changed into a hero throughout the
film.
The narrative features of this film is short form narrative. The film
was linear because there were no flashbacks within the film and it was just one
storyline from beginning to end. The film was set in London 2027 which shows
that it was Sc-fi and also about the genre there was a lot of violence from the
war in another country. Other information which they give about the genre is
the plot of the story and how they have set the film which helps the audience
knows what type of film this is and what is going with the characters and their
personalities. The two main characters within the film are Theo and Kee. In one
scene in the film Theo is shown like a hero and he knows what he is doing. The
scene is when they are in the refugee camp and he helps Kee deliver her baby.
It shows he is like a father figure and he has memories of his baby which
unfortunately died. He wants the mum and the baby to be safe. This can make the
audience relieved thinking that they will both be okay and they will get to the
both safe. Even thought they don’t have all the equipment they needed they were
still be able to deliver the baby safely and that the baby was also healthy
too. Another key scene in the film is when they were all in the car thinking
they were all safe and then people come out of nowhere and someone shot the
women in the neck who then dies. While they were in the car Theo and Julian
were playing with a ball and this shows that they were comfortable with each
other and they were reliving memories they used to have with eachother. The
film has a closed ending because Theo dies but on the other hand it can be open
because you don’t know what happens to Kee and her baby and if the ship went to
pick them up. They wanted to make it realistic.
The mise en scene was inside the car but we can suggest that the car
was stolen as well. The radio was on in the car during the whole scene. Even
though we couldn’t hear the radio the whole time we know it was still on because
they want to make it as realistic as they can within the film. Everyone outside
was wearing black and they also has bats and guns. It created tension for the
audience because there were no cuts which created suspense

Key scenes of Children of men
Action scene
The location of the action scene was based in the car and that it was all one shot and there was no cuts in the scene. With use of camera they used some close up, movement around the car which showed everyone reaction and what they were doing. Also this showed the tension and the emotion from everyone in the car. The editing made it more realistic and it also made the scene flow more as there were no cuts but it meant that there were more tension because if they had a cut it would of meant something has been resolved. In the scene they had a ping pong ball and they were playing with it which showed their friendship in the past and hey were comfortable with each other. The car which they were in was probably stolen. Also in the scene the people outside were wearing all black and that they had bats stones and they were wearing helmets. With the sound there was music from the radio playing in the background the whole scene. Even though you couldn't hear the whole time it was still playing because they are trying to be as realistic as they can but also they were in the car so it was still playing on the radio. There were also sound effect such as the car alarm, gun shot which is non diegetic sound. There was also glass breaking and motorbike sounds. They say "We can make it' such means that they have faith that everything will be okay and it make it realistic.

TV Advert Ideas
Brand and product 1: Popping candy skittles
Target Audience: Mainly for kids and young teenagers. The gender is for boys and girls and the interest is who love sweets and skittles and that want to try something new.
Form and style: The form of the advert is realist because the audience will think that these will happen and why you should by the new skittles. The style of a advert would be humorous to make it memorable for the audience and make them want to go out and buy them.
Technical conventions: Colours which i would use are bright colours such as the colours of the skittles because it would stand out to everyone and eye catching. The editing sounds which will be in the advert are popping but also an explosion. Setting maybe someone eating the candy and someone giving them the new candy and talking about it?? Camera shots which could be used are closes ups, two shots and long shots.
Content: The location is in the classroom or the balcony??. There will be 2 or 3 people in the advert. The narrative would be someone touches something and turns into skittles but then someone asks if theres any new skittles and present them this new skittles. They try the skills and start popping them in their mouth. All of the popping candies and different flavours. At the end the touch something and it starts popping everywhere. Tagline/Slogan the skittles will pop you out?
Brand and product 2: Haribos monsters inc.
Target Audience: Mainly for kids and teenagers who loves sweets and different flavours. Also who likes monsters inc/films
Form and style: Maybe realist and a bit of animation and the style would be humorous.
Technical conventions: The colours which i would use is the colours of the monsters but also colour of the flavours. People looking happy and joyful.

TV Advert
Anti realist narrative: John Lewis Christmas advert 2014. This is an anti realist because people aren't normally with a family in an actual home and having fun doing actual things like humans. It would normally be in the cold with other animals. The persuasive techniques which there is in the advert is that it is a dream and fantasy because that there is a boy with a penguin which is trying to bring happiness into the young boy childhood.
Series advert: Compare the meerkat. This a series advert because there are other adverts each few months and you get to see the characters grow. This is effective because the audience will want to keep watching the next ones and you are able to build a relationship. The persuasive techniques which is used in the advert is that comedy and humour but also childhood
Realist narrative: Directline home insurance. This is a realist narrative because that it is set at home and they are sitting as a family watching tv but then the ceiling breaks and also the TV so they would have to call home insurance. This could happen to you.
Animation: John lewis christmas advert 2013. This is in animation because they are all animated characters and they aren't in the real world. This is effective because that it is able to attract the audience to watch the advert while it is telling a story with a song in the background.
Talking heads: Secret escapes. I put it in this category because they are just talking to camera as if they are having a conversation with you. Also they are telling you facts about it and how you are able to book a holiday. At the end they whisper it to you like they are telling you a secret.
Documentary: RSPCA Advert. I put this advert in this category because that there is a lot of facts and information during the advert and they are trying to promote it and get people to help the charity to help the dogs to find a family.

Radio evaluation
The stages of process which I had to follow to create a radio advert was that I had to think of 2 products/events which I wanted to do. Afterwards I wrote about them both following the guidelines then after I had to write 2 scripts for each treatment which i have chosen to do. Then I had to go to the producer and we both decided which script i would do for my final radio advert. For my final radio advert we chose Dancing on ice final tour 2015 which is an event. Now we have chosen which script I was going to do it was now time to record the advert. I did recorded my own voice over. The final stage of production was editing using Reaper and render it down. I found editing the radio advert quite easy when I understood how to do it and cut things out. One of the hard things was trying to make it a certain length which was 40 seconds for me but also how to change the pitch of the voiceover. I wanted the voiceover to be a higher pitch. The persuasive techniques which i have used for my radio advert are humorous and simple because I wanted it to be funny but easy to understand at the same time which is adding emotion into it. In the advert I added questions to make it funny but also to interact with the audience to attract them to listen to the advert. My success of this radio advert is that i was able to find music and sound effects which would fit into the type of advert is was creating but also the voiceover fitted as well. I was able to get the advert to 40 seconds . On the other hand my weakness were in the voiceover there wasn't much emotion and also I could of got another voiceover in it to make it like a conversation. With the editing it could of been better and also more music and sound effects.
